PEN were asked to tender for Manchester Metropolitan University, Student unions Interior design project.
Our Concept of ‘Home away from Home’ provides working environments suited to all types of users with a range of learning styles. For example, different ‘zones’ for students to study, relax, and feel comfortable in; such as ‘quiet zones’ ‘light music zone’ ‘friendly seating zone’ as well as individual pouf seating for the time when students wish to take some time to themselves.
Each room has been named in correspondence to the rooms of a home. For example, the ‘lobby’ area where you can meet other students or the ‘living room’ where you can eat, work or play. The large hall will be called ‘the den’. A large structural seating area will be added to the space, distinguishing a space for students to sit, relax and participate in leisurely activities.
